Soo Young Kim, a tattoo apprentice and on her way to becoming a full-time tattoo artist currently based at Ethos Art Haus in Los Angeles, California, brings a unique perspective and creative flair to the world of tattoo artistry. Graduating from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Studio, Soo's artistic journey has been enriched by a diverse range of experiences and mediums.

As an art student, Soo had the opportunity to explore various materials and techniques, from welding and molding to woodworks and life-size sculptures. This multidisciplinary background has equipped Soo with a unique understanding of how to manipulate and interact with different mediums, pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.

Transitioning her creativity to human skin as a canvas added another layer of complexity and intimacy to Soo's work. Unlike traditional mediums, human skin is living and responsive, creating a dynamic interaction between the artist and the canvas. This dynamic opens up new possibilities for emotional expression and connection, fueling Soo's passion for tattoo artistry.

Although Soo's journey into tattoo artistry began relatively recently in 2023, the spark of her passion ignited long before she picked up a tattoo machine. It was about eight years ago when Soo received her first meaningful tattoo—a poignant tribute to her father, who is now her mentor in the tattoo industry.

The profound significance of this tattoo, serving as a cherished memento of her father's memory, inspired Soo to create similarly meaningful artworks for others. She understands the emotional weight that tattoos can carry and remains dedicated to honoring the memories, experiences, and emotions that adorn the skin of her clients.

With every stroke of the needle, Soo creates bespoke works of art etched into skin, weaving tales of resilience, love, and triumph. Her approach is rooted in empathy, creativity, and unwavering dedication, aiming to leave an indelible mark on the hearts and skin of all her clients.
